Why Deploy Cloud-Based Education ERP?

Institutions providing higher education must provide top-notch quality services to stay in the leading position. There are many improvements an organization or institution can make to further improve the education quality and make the students highly efficient.

In an institution, there are a lot of data that needs to be processed. But they lack the resources that need to handle the task. It is a time-consuming process and can take a very long time to complete. That is why such a method is not reliable and some other alternatives must be used. There is a cloud-based ERP that makes it very easy to do the computing and since it is in the cloud, it can be accessed from anywhere, thus sharing the resources.

What Is Cloud ERP?

Cloud ERP (Enterprise Resources Planning) is a software that allows its users to access the software from different computers. By using this software, computing resources like processing power, ram memory, storage can be shared across various computers that are connected with the help of the internet.

It is a cost-effective software and can be easily afforded as the computing resources are leased every month. One doesn’t need to purchase a complete package or something like that, but can easily use as much as one needs. Since it works with the help of the internet, it can be accessed from anywhere as long as the user knows the login credentials.

On-Premises ERP vs. Cloud ERP

Many people are confused as to which one they should go for. Both On-premises ERP and cloud ERP are good and offer almost the same features. Here is some comparison between On-premises ERP and Cloud ERP:

1.Storage Location
  • Cloud ERP
Cloud-based ERP is hosted on the provider’s server. One needs to access these servers to gain access.
  • On-premises ERP
On-premises ERP is hosted locally on the client’s computer or server. This means that the client has full access to the server and make any changes they want. However, it is less secure as compared to Cloud ERP because the servers can be tampered with very easily if there is not enough security.

2. Cost
  • Cloud ERP
Cloud ERP is a subscription-based service that one can get based on a monthly or yearly basis. There are other additional services but the basic cost of the complete setup is very less and the subscription needs to be renewed every month or year before it expires.
  • On-premises ERP
The cost of On-premises ERP is one time only and there is no need to pay anymore other than the maintenance cost.

Advantages of Cloud ERPs

  • Faster Implementation
Since everything is done in the cloud, there is not much human interaction required and all the updates are done automatically. This way, the institutions can focus more on other things and let the cloud take care of the management.
  • More Features are Accessible
As ERP is cloud-based, more updates will be given with newly added features for more productivity and easy management.
  • No Physical Servers
As the servers are hosted on the vendor’s side, there will be no physical servers located at the institution or organization. It can be accessed from anywhere with the help of the internet.

Disadvantages of Cloud ERPs

  • Complete Control
Since the institution or the organization doesn’t have its own physical server, they cannot customize the program as they want. The vendor provides regular updates, but still, the desired customizations cannot be done.
  • Cost
Initially, the setup cost is less in comparison to On-premises ERP, but the longer one keeps using it, the more will be the service cost. On top of that, cloud-based ERP is highly advanced with a lot of features and so, the cost can get even higher.
  • Security of the Data
There is always a threat of the data being breached by hackers is the ERP can be accessed with the internet. If the security is not enough tough, then the data can be compromised.
